Charlie
Charlie is a Yellow-naped Amazon Parrot. She has been serenading Avenues Pet Clinic staff and patients since the early 1980s. We think she is over 30 years old. Charlie's owner brought her in to see Dr. Jean Cotton. The client was getting married, but Charlie did not like her fiance. Dr. Cotton suggested bringing Charlie to the clinic with a plan to reintroduce Charlie to see if she would accept him. Unfortunately this did not work. The client brought Charlie back and the rest is parrot history.
Charlie's Languages
In addition to a large variety of whistles and trills and words (English and Spanish), Charlie speaks fluent cat and dog. She has been known to carry on conversations with visiting cats, doing her absolute best to put them at ease. You can also catch her joining Ruth's borzoi, Dimitri, when he's howling, letting everyone in the vicinity know they would like some attention.Charlie often entertains us with her activities and sounds. Charlie likes children and will often talk to them when she ignores everyone else.
