We are very proud of our facilities here at avenues pet clinic!
Please
feel free to arrange a tour of our clinic.
Avenues Pet Clinic has extensive capabilities for in house diagnostics with results in just a few hours. Some of these include heartworm tests, feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency viruses, blood typing, tests for Erhlichia and Lyme disease, fecal and urine analysis, cytology, dermatophyte tests, parvovirus test, and antifreeze tests, as well as blood chemistries, complete blood counts, blood gas analysis, electrolytes, T4, cortisol, and bile acids. We also utilitze outside laboratory services for allergy testing, full thyroid diagnostic profiles, vaccination titers, histopathology, and other diagnostic tests. We also have a Ton-o-pen, for measuring intraocular pressures, for our patients with eye diseases.
We have in house radiology and automated film processor, allowing our doctors to evaluate your pet's x-rays immediately. Additionally, radiographs can be referred to a Board Certified Radiologist for further evaluation.
We offer a range of dental services including ultrasonic scaling, polishing, sealants, extractions, and fluoride treatments. Our digital dental x-ray machine aides us in efficiently visualizing any potential tooth root damage or infection that could pose a problem for your pet's dental health.
Our cat room is separate from the main treatment area and kennel areas, which gives our feline patients a quiet and private hospital area. Our fiberglass cages, which range in size, are lined with soft towels and blankets, and each is furnished with their own litterbox and food dishes to make their stay as comfortable as possible. It also contains a dual function prep table and tub for minor procedures.
Our kennel room is capable of housing dogs of all sizes. We have two drained, formica-lined runs for the larger breeds, along with 20 other cages in a range of sizes for our other visitors. All of our cages are lined with blankets. We are very proud of our kennel staff, who assist in the care of our patients and boarding dogs.
Our main treatment area is equipped with multiple observation cages for critical patients. It offers a treatment table, anesthetic machine, IV fluid pumps, and our Intensive Care Unit, which provides heat, oxygen therapy, humidity control, and nebulizations. Many of our procedures, such a venipuncture, anal glands, nail trims, IV catheter placement, and initial surgery preparation, occur in this area.
Our surgery room is very well equipped and provides capabilities for advanced vital monitoring, including constant monitoring of blood pressure, EKG (electrical activity of the heart), respiratory rate, blood oxygen level, blood carbon dioxide level and body core temperature. We perform both elective and non-elective procedures, ranging from routine spays and neuters to abdominal exploratories and orthopedic surgery.
Our clinic utilizes a blood donor program and has access to fresh blood and plasma as an option for critical patients. We have numerous blood-typed, healthy donors, but are always looking for more. If you would be interested in particpating in this program, please ask if your dog would qualify.
We are in the process of improving our in-house ultrasound capabilities, but in the meantime, we work with veterinary radiologists who perform cardiac and abdominal ultrasounds, along with ultrasound-guided biopsy, here at our clinic.
Our clinic works with many specialists who are available for phone consultation or referral as needed.
Our extensive pharmacy enables us to prescribe medications and preventative treatments for your pet. If we do not carry the medication, or special compounding is necessary, we work closely with local pharmacies. We are also proud to carry Hills, Purina, and Royal Canin prescription diets, specially formulated for the needs of your pet. Special orders of both medications and foods are also available.
